As of now, I really want a new computer, since the holidays and my birthday are coming up. However, my Dad won’t get me one because he thinks that it’s bad for my education and me. I’m looking toward a Mac, but don’t care about type or price. What are some good, logical reasons as to why buying a new computer? My dad works in an IT department, so we have lots of computers at home, but they are pretty old, like a Toshiba Tecra M3 or a Dell Optiplex GX150, so the old “Computers are too useful to not have!” won’t be too useful. Also, for work my dad has a Toshiba Tecra M10, which is a nice computer, and an ultra-portable Toshiba Portégé R500, which are both expensive computers that his company bought for him. So, why should he buy me a Mac? (He’s a PC person)
@Jake- He won't let me use them for personal things, as he usually keeps them in the company complex

You never explains WHY you Should get a new computer? Your Logic was, I don’t like the other ones so I want a new one?

To do what?

What is your new Mac going to be able to do that you CAN’T already do? Probably nothing.
Also Mac’s cost more.

Now maybe you can tell your dad to sell a couple of the old computer and buy a new one (mac or PC) but, really all you want is your OWN computer.
