just wanted to get on board with my new full-sized laptop from best buy. got a great deal on the back to school special of $499 including a rather flimsy targus backpack.
i promptly ditched the pack, lowering the price to $486 and after having sold my acer netbook in SFO (bye little buddy!) that knocked another $200 further off the price. so a grand total of $286 for a intel chipset/processor dual 2 core centrino unit, i am very pleased.
QUICK SPECS:
intel core 2 duo T6400 processor with centrino chipset
4GB of ram upgradeable to 8 800MHz frontside bus, 2MB L2 cache and 2.0GHz processor speed.
15.6′ trubrite HD widescreen (tho i port it everywhere its too bulky, but watching movies is a dream!)
dvd supermulti with corel moviemaking/editing package
1.3 mp webcam which is just AWFUL!
windows vista (ugh!) home premium 64bit

UPDATE: just clicked on that link and it seems that best buy is either out or is no longer selling this computer as the page has been removed and the laptop is removed from the website.
also i disabled windows messenger in startup and that shaved 19secs of my boot time. 70secs is the new and quite excellent time b4 homepage pops up and is clickable
